Cochrane's theatre lovers are invited to watch a live action rendition The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, from Dec, 2 to 4 at Bow Valley Church.

Cochrane’s theatre lovers will be transported to the fantasy realm of Narnia from Dec. 2 to 4, with daily live renditions of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at Bow Valley Church.

The production will take place on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m., Dec. 3 at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. Each performance has an expected length of two-and-a -half hours, including a short intermission.

Tickets are $10 per person. Proceeds from each performance being donated for a good cause, as they will support Helping Hands Society and the Morley Food Bank.

The play is adapted from the first book in the seven-novel Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. The books cover the adventures of four English children who discover the fantasy world of Narnia after being relocated to the countryside following a wartime evacuation.

Director Moneen Wuthrich and her daughter Lynay hope the audience enjoys the live performance of the classic fantasy novel, which features Cochranites reprising the roles of several main characters.

“We actually have a local lawyer who is starring as Aslan, and students from both Bow Valley and Cochrane high schools who are starring as Peter, Susan, Lucy, and Edmond,” Wuthrich said.

Glenn Allen Watts will star as Aslan the Lion, alongside Josh Wuthrich as Peter, Sophie Nelson as Susan, Noah Ovando as Edmond, and Arabella Nikkel as Lucy. Ashley van Hoeve will play the White Witch, and Jonas Weymark Lang will feature as the cheerful, Turkish delight-loving faun, Mr. Tumnus.

It is a multi-generational cast, Wuthrich said, with the youngest actor about five years old and the oldest is in his 60s.

Although she feels nervous about opening night this Friday, Wuthrich said the audience can expect a good show from the performers.

She added that although this is a family-friendly production, it falls in line with the novel, which has fight scenes that end in the deaths of certain characters.

“There are a few fight sequences in there, some of them are funny, and there are some that are intense,” Wuthrich said. “But it is something to be aware of for those on the more sensitive side or very young.”

Tickets can be purchased online at bowvalleybaptist.com or at the door on performance days.
