RCMP officers are seeking assistance after an attempted theft in the Walmart parking lot.

On Nov. 30, an older male suspect was seen exiting a silver Dodge Caliber and entering the Cochrane Walmart. The male walked around the store, putting a large quantity of items in a basket and then attempted to leave without paying for it.

The suspect was detected by loss prevention and deserted the cart with the items, pushing a female out of the way before he got back into the Dodge Caliber.

“We do tend to get a pretty consistent flow of this type of complaint in Cochrane,” said Troy Savinkoff, Corporal with the Cochrane RCMP.

RCMP are asking anyone for information regarding this or any other crime to contact the Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000 or by Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Election vandalism

Earlier this month a trailer was stolen and vandalized on the Stoney Nakoda Nation.

The trailer, taken from outside of Morley, belonged to a candidate who was running for chief in the Bearspaw Band Election.

On the day of the election, Dec. 6, the trailer was found vandalized, spray painted in white with “disparaging comments about parties in the election” and abandoned at the United Church in Morley, across from the polling station.

RCMP officers are asking for assistance, if anyone has any information about the incident to call the local detachment at 403-851-8000 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
