The CPKC 2024 Holiday Train is expected to make a stop in Cochrane on Dec. 15.

The CPKC 2024 Holiday Train will be making its rounds in Alberta from Nov. 21 to Dec. 20, after their recent announcement of their train schedule and performing artist lineup this holiday season.

This will be the Holiday Train’s 26th year of spreading holiday cheer while raising money, food, and awareness for those struggling with food insecurity in both Canada and the U.S.

In addition to being lit up like a Christmas tree, this year’s Holiday Train lineup will host free performances by several popular artists including the American Authors, Magic!, Sofia Camara, and Tyler Shaw.

The Holiday Train is expected to visit around two dozen communities in Alberta this year.

Since 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train raised more than $24.3 million and collected around 5.3 million pounds of food for community food banks in Canada and the U.S.

A few stops in the surrounding area include on Dec. 13, the train will make stops in Innisfail from noon to 1:25 p.m., Olds from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., Didsbury from 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., and Airdrie from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

On Dec. 15, the train will visit Cochrane from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Stoney Nakoda from 4:25 p.m. to 4:50 p.m., Canmore from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Banff from 7:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

The CPKC donates to local food banks at each stop and they encourage all attendees to make a monetary donation or heart-healthy food donation. More information on the 2024 Holiday Train can be found online by visiting www.cpkcr.com/en/community/HolidayTrain.
