Sundre-area resident Codi Wilson has won the Miss Rodeo Canada 2025 title.
Wilson was born and raised on a farm just south of Sundre, according to the Miss Rodeo Canada website.
“The sport of rodeo has been a huge part of her life since she was a young girl,” the site states.
She is currently Miss Rodeo Edmonton 2024. She was crowned Miss Rodeo Canada during the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton on Friday, Oct. 4.
The Miss Rodeo Canada competition started on Saturday Sept. 28 and wrapped up on Oct. 5. There were seven competitors this year.
The competition included a written exam related to rodeo knowledge and technical horsemanship. There were also personnel interviews, public speaking, horsemanship and modelling elements in the competition.
For her part, Wilson was a member of the Alberta High School Rodeo Association starting in Grade 6 and remained so until she graduated high school in 2018.
Over the years Wilson has competed in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, break away roping and girls cutting.
She was crowned the Alberta High School Rodeo Queen in 2016. She became the Alberta High School Rodeo Queen coordinator in 2019.
Kaylee Shantz is Miss Rodeo Canada 2024. Wilson will be mentored by Shantz over the next three months.
Wilson is currently completing a bachelor of arts/bachelor of education combined degree with a major in Indigenous studies at the University of Lethbridge, according to the website.
