The countdown is on to get tickets for the inaugural Sport 4 Life Cochrane Volunteer Awards Night, an evening dedicated to the hard-working sport volunteers in our community.
A number of non-profit sport associations will be gathering April 26 at the Cochrane RancheHouse to honour these selfless individuals. Each association will be recognizing their own individual volunteer, said Sport 4 Life’s Lea Norris.
In addition, the sport organization will be honouring five community members with awards in the following categories: leader/coach of the year, volunteer of the year, local business contributor of the year, lifetime achievement award and spirit of sport award.
“We’re very excited to be able to celebrate our volunteers and show them that Sport 4 Life Cochrane supports them,” said Norris. “Here, each association can celebrate together as a community.”
Each nominee will be highlighted, said Norris. Winners will walk away with a custom sport-style clipboard with which to remember the evening.
The event starts at 7 p.m. and runs through to midnight. The event will feature a silent auction, appetizers and a cash bar.
Country band Pear will entertain guests with their fiddling sounds before and after the award ceremony. And keynote speaker Dr. David Legg, a board member of the Paralympic committee will chronicle his athletic adventure for the crowd.
“(Legg) has lots of great stories about his journey and involvement with the Paralympic Games,” said Norris.
Tickets for Cochrane Sport 4 Life’s Volunteer Awards Night have been reduced to $35 for the evening. To purchase, contact Tracy Guthrie at 403-981-7669 or [email protected].
