Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds, and Sundre are under severe thunderstorm watch on Tuesday, June 11, according to Environment Canada.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall according to Environment Canada.
Large buildings, trees, and vehicles are at risk for damage from strong winds according to the Environment Canada report.
“Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes,” said the report.
