Ryan Reed appointed as new RVS Superintendent of Schools

A new candidate for the position of Superintendent of Schools and CEO of the Rocky View Schools (RVS) has been approved by the board of trustees.

A candidate for the position of Superintendent of Schools and CEO of the Rocky View Schools (RVS) has been approved by the board of trustees.

In a special meeting on Feb. 20 that was held in camera, RVS Board of Trustees appointment Ryan Reed as the new Superintendent of Schools and CEO of RVS Division, effective Sept. 1, 2025. 

“It is an honour, and I am humbled to have this opportunity to serve as Superintendent of Schools,” said Reed. “I look forward to working with the Board and my colleagues to advance the Board’s Strategic Plan priorities and the goals of RVS’ Education Plan.”

Reed has over 21 years of experience in the education sector with a decade in RVS. With "deep passion for student success and a strong commitment to leadership excellence," Reed is dedicated to take over the leadership role. 

Previously, Reed has served as an assistant principal as well as the principal at various schools across the province. Later, he advanced as a director within the RVS Education Centre. 

According to the board chair, Fiona Gilbert, Reed is a "highly respected leader who always puts students first."

She looks forward to the positive impact he will continue to bring to RVS as Superintendent. 

In present time, Reed serves as the Director of Schools, a role which provides guidance to administrators located in Airdrie, Cochrane and Crossfield, including "supporting emergent issues at grassroots and division level." 

Known for building strong relationships and effective systems, Reed has helped strengthen teams and improve educational outcomes. RVS believes his strategic leadership will be essential in supporting the board and its 3,000 RVS employees to ensure every students learns, belongs and succeeds.
