Rocky View Schools (RVS) aims to keep parents and schools better informed on the whereabouts of school buses via their transition to a new app called WheresTheBus.
The new tool uses GPS and tablets on school buses, which track and report real-time locations and estimated arrival times. Senior manager of transportation Morley Kostecky believes that the new system will greatly benefit families and students.
“We are excited about the transition to WheresTheBus, which will provide families peace of mind as their children are transported to and from school,” Kostecky said. “This app provides families with information that can be used to check where the bus is and see when it arrives at your child’s stop and at school.”
Where’s the bus will replace the current Bus Status app used by RVS, and will no longer be available to download on March 6. To ensure there’s no gap in bus tracking, families have until then to download the WheresTheBus app and create an account. WheresTheBus is free, and families can opt-out at any time.
To create an account, families will need their PowerSchool number, which can be found on PowerSchool or by contacting their school.
