School’s out for the summer, but Rocky View Schools (RVS) is advising parents to register for school bus transportation for the 2024 to 2025 school year before Aug. 1 to avoid service delays when classes are back in session.

RVS warns that all registrations made after the deadline may not be processed until after Sept. 18, resulting in families experiencing delays from two to three weeks before they can ride the bus.

Students bus services are available for students who live within RVS divisional boundaries and are enroled in their designated school.

The services are available to students in kindergarten to Grade 7 who reside more than 1.5 KM from their designated school, and Grade 8 to 12 students who live more than two KM from their designated school.

To better help parents for this coming school year, RVS will host My First Ride, their annual in-person event for new bus riders presented by RVS bus contractors on Aug. 27 and 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the RVS Education Centre. Families are invited to attend the event to learn more about school bus safety.

More information on My First Ride, a short bus safety video, and A step-by-step registration guide can be found online by visiting www.rockyview.ab.ca.
