Applications to be the next Cochrane Lions Rodeo Royalty queen or princess are still being accepted, and thus far, Corinne Blair of Calgary is the lone contestant throwing her hat into the ring.
“I would love to be a part of the Cochrane Royalty program because I had an amazing year getting to represent Pete Knight Royalty,” said Blair of the Crossfield Royalty program. “It helped me grow with a lot skills and has helped me improve, but I would like for those skills to grow even more. By getting the chance to represent Cochrane, I am hoping they will continue to build.”
The 17-year-old Rodeo Royalty contestant recently graduated from high school and relishes any opportunity to be involved in all things rodeo.
Blair is involved in the 4-H program and enjoys looking after her horses, but is also a Highland dancer and is currently overseas showing off her skills.
“I am in Scotland with my dance studio competing in Highland dance competitions for two weeks,” Blair said, adding that she will get the chance to do some sightseeing and touring during a third week in Ireland with her family.
In the future, Blair hopes to attend college in either Lethbridge or Olds for an agriculture program staring in the fall of 2016.
Any Cochrane and area ladies who would like to be part of the Rodeo Royalty program can still submit an application on the Cochrane Lions Rodeo Royalty Facebook page.
The new queen and princess will be crowned on Labour Day Monday following the Lions Labour Day Rodeo, which runs throughout the holiday weekend at the Rodeo Grounds in Cochrane.
