Imagine finding a random note with an inspirational quote or better yet imagine hiding random notes with compliments written down for other people to find.

That is what happened at Manachaban Middle School last week. The Manachaban student council continued the Random Acts of Kindness project that has been in the school for the past three years. Members of the student council wrote down positive messages with compliments or inspirational quotes and stuck one on every locker in the school.

“I think it is important because it allows kids to be positive with each other - there are certainly lots of forums, especially on social media, where kids can be negative with each other and this is something where everyone gets a positive note, ” said Thomas Elbe, Manachaban school principal.

Every student in the school received a sticky note on their locker, with messages such as “Smile - it looks good on you ” or “Shoot for the moon, even if you fall you'll land among the stars. ”

And while the random kindness might make the person receiving the message feel better, it is also a positive for the person writing and leaving the message, student council members explained.

“Just doing something nice for someone can make you feel better and make the other person feel better too, ” said Abbie Davidson, Manachaban student.

The positive messages were put on the lockers during the second week of February as part of the Random Acts of Kindness tradition.
