Cochranites around 4th Ave. might be wondering who left the dogs out on June 29, as the 2024 Pooch Patio Party returns for another year.

The party will run from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., and will see a portion of the street between the offices of Royal LePage Benchmark and Rocky View Brewing Company closed off for the event.

The event, organized by Jana Husmann, Joey Cyr of the Ken Morris team from Royal LePage Benchmark Cochrane, Rocky View Brewing Company, and Global Pet Foods, aims to raise fund to support the Cochrane Humane Society.

After the success of last year’s event, Cyr said this new party will come back bigger and better.

“Our goal is to raise at least $5,000 for the Cochrane Humane Society,” Cyr said. “We hit a goal of just over $2,500 last year, so we wanted to double that because over 85 people already registered for the event, and we’re hoping to get quite a few more.”

From a splash pool, a live DJ, contests, a photo booth, a silent auction with all proceeds going to the Cochrane Humane Society, and much more, Husmann said that there will be all kinds of activities for party goers.

“We will have a pet painter on site,” Husmann added. “I created a Facebook event for the Pooch Patio Party, and, under it, there’s a link where people can submit their pet photos. We will draw a winner from all the pet photos that get submitted, and that picture will be painted live at the event.”

The party will also host 18 vendors, who also sponsored the event. Cyr added that the party also has a liquor license so guests of drinking age can enjoy their drinks under the sky.

In addition, Husmann added that the Rocky View Brewing Company will also be brewing up a special ‘Doggy Beer’ for the part, with a portion of the proceeds heading to the Cochrane Humane Society.

Husmann said they’re all hard at work to bring this event to the community, and she hopes that people and their pets come out and enjoy the day.

“The main goal is to definitely give back to the community, have a blast, and have a good time together,” Husmann said.
