It may fall on a Tuesday night, but that doesn’t mean that Cochrane partygoers will be without a bash this New Year’s Eve.

Before you put on your dancing shoes, check out this round up of celebratory parties happening at local watering holes. From prime rib dinners to live music — Cochrane’s nightlife will have a little something for everyone this Dec. 31.

Celebrations will kick off early in the evening at the Irish pub, which is offering a five-star New Year’s Eve, complete with a three-course meal.

Patrons of the pub will have their choice of three top-notch entrees: a slow-roasted prime rib, the chicken supreme, or a pan-seared halibut with a seafood stuffing.

Appetizers and dessert will accompany the tasty entrée.

The party will continue post-meal, with both a live musician and a DJ. Champagne will be rolled out at midnight, said pub owner Michael Pyne along with a 12:30 a.m. snack session with sandwiches and other refreshments.

The cost of the festivities is $85 per couple, or $45 per person.

For more information, contact Killarney’s Cochrane at 587-362-2552.

Nothing welcomes in the new year quite like a prime rib and lobster buffet, which is what will be cooked up over at the Texas Gate Bar and Grill.

The meal gets underway at 7:45 p.m.

The party kicks off at 9:30 p.m. when the Jacklyn Sparrow Band takes the stage. The band covers a range of musical genres from pop, rock and country, to Motown, disco and dance. Bottles of champagne will be popped at midnight, accompanied by a buffet to combat the late-night munchies.

The cost is $40 for dinner and a full night of partying in the bar, and $30 for dinner in the dining room.

Admission after 9:30 p.m. is $10. For more details, call 403-932-6666.

Cochrane’s western-style bar is not one to miss a party, and this New Year’s Eve is no exception.

With a live band, dinner specials and no cover charge, the saloon’s bash aims to keep patrons rocking into the wee hours of the morning.

Dinner included a surf and turf special, chicken cordon bleu and almond-crusted halibut — all accompanied by a tasty starter and brownie dessert, said Molly Dallyn of the BullHorn Saloon.

Country-rock band Back Road Traveler will take over the stage for the evening. Along with their original songs, the band covers the music of artists such as Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones, Jason Aldean and Toby Keith.

Patrons will be able to toast in the new year with free champagne.

The local watering hole will be looking to spoil patrons this New Year’s Eve.

Ducks owner John Scondrianis said food and drink specials would be offered all night, on treats like lasagna, chicken caesar salad, hi-balls and beer.

Partygoers can head into the bar to play a game of pool or take in the talent of DJ Gregrrr. And make sure to grab a party favour and a glass of champagne to ring in 2014. Admission to the festivities is free. To learn more, call 403-932-5959.

Both members and non-members will be welcomed at the Cochrane branch of the Royal Canadian Legion Dec. 31 for a night of celebration.

The New Year’s party is set to get underway with cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by a prime rib dinner with all the trimmings at 7 p.m.

The DJs from Interactive Entertainment will be taking requests starting at 9 p.m. to get the dance floor rocking. Bottles of champagne will be popped at midnight.

Tickets for the night’s festivities can be purchased at the legion — $40 for members and $45 for non-members.

For more details on the Legion’s event, call 403-932-2011.

The charming English pub will be getting the party started early, as they ring in the British New Year.

The toasting of 2014 will begin at 5 p.m., but owner Cathy Currie urges partygoers to arrive at the Cumbrian Arms early.

“Make sure to get there in lots of time to welcome the English New Year — it’s usually standing room only,” she said.

Patrons can also taste the two new offerings the Cumbrian is featuring on tap: Big Rock Brewery’s Rock Creek Dry Cider and Rolling Rock beer.
