'Living in the Natural World' series talks bison in Cochrane on Feb. 7

The upcoming edition of the "Living in the Natural Environment" speaker series, hosted by the MD of Bighorn No. 8 on Friday, February 7, will focus on efforts to reintroduce wild bison into Banff National Park.  

A talk entitled "Bringing Wild Bison back to Banff National Park," will feature guest speaker Dillon Watt who is the Bison Reintroduction Project Manager for Banff National Park.

A second talk on the evening entitled "Taking Action on Native Trout Recovery," will feature guest speakers Lesley Peterson of Freshwater Conservation Canada and Marina Krainer of the Ghost Watershed Alliance Society.

Living in the Natural Environment brings together 100 to 150 members of the rural and small urban community, government, and non-agricultural rural residents to initiate discussion. Presentation topics are intended to be thought provoking, interesting, relevant to the surrounding landscape and the people that live there.

This event will take place on February 7, 2025 at the Cochrane RancheHouse. Tickets can be purchased up until January 29 either in person at the MD office in Exshaw or online at eventbrite.ca. Tickets, which include a prime rib dinner, cost $40 each. There will also be a cash bar and tradeshow booths on hand for the event.
