Kindergarten students, parents, and Fireside School staff were able to get up close and personal with a Calgary Police Service HAWC helicopter after it landed in the field near the school for an impromptu presentation on Friday.

The pre-planned landing took place at 1 p.m., making for an exciting way for the young students to cap off the kindergarten school year.

After the helicopter landed, HAWCS pilot Cam Buschert spoke to the students about the HAWCS (Helicopter Air Watch for Community Safety) program and let on-lookers check out some of the helicopter's features before returning to the blue skies above.

The spectacle was put together ahead of time by Fireside School staff.
