Cochrane residents must brace for chilly weather as the temperature plunges to -16 degree celsius today.
The forecast calls for cloudy skies with a 30 per cent chance of light flurries this evening.
Snow began falling lightly in the late morning. As of 4:30 p.m., the temperature is sitting at -16°C with light snow, and the wind is blowing from the southeast at 13 km/h, making it feel like -23°C due to the wind chill.
Tonight, temperatures will drop even further to -18°C, with winds picking up slightly at 15 km/h. The wind chill will make it feel like -24°C. Snowfall could increase, with around two centimetres expected to fall by late evening.
Looking ahead to Dec. 18, snow will continue, with two to four centimetres expected through the morning, clearing by the afternoon. Clouds will break to let some sun peek through later, but the temperature will fall to -19°C, and the wind chill will make it feel like -26°C.
On the evening of Dec. 18, skies will clear, but the temperature will remain cold, dipping to a low of -22°C. The wind chill will make it feel as cold as -27°C.
By Dec. 19, the weather will improve slightly with a mix of sun and clouds, bringing a high of minus five, helping to lift the winter gloom.
On Dec. 20, a sunny sky and a high of four will offer a taste of warmer weather, setting the stage for an even milder weekend ahead.
