The Calgary Regional Partnership (CRP) announced the launch of a new website Jan. 10 that will offer a one-stop shop for investors and developers from around the world to find available commercial and industrial properties in the surrounding metro area.
Cochrane mayor Truper McBride, who is the chair of CRP, said the site, explorecalgaryregion.ca, is an essential tool for a region he said is emerging as a major player on the global market.
“The Explore Calgary Region website will make it easier for us to do business in the region,” said McBride, “and it opens our region to North American and global development markets through this web-based application.”
The site, which the CRP announced in Calgary and was hosted by the Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB), will bring together economic, planning, geographic and demographic information; information McBride said is often sought by site selectors in a single location on the web.
“To be internationally competitive in marketing an area for business expansion, growth or relocation,” McBride explained, “we need to have a web-enabled system that immediately responds to the property, demographic and business information that is needed.”
While the CRP created the site, information on available properties and additional data is loaded onto the website by CREB.
“This tool will benefit our members who do commercial and industrial business in the region by allowing interested parties to access their information more readily,” CREB president Bob Jablonski said in a press release.
Visitors to the site can select any Calgary-area community they have an interest in. As of Jan. 11, Cochrane boasted 13 properties either for sale or lease available for business.
“(This site),” said McBride, “is a valuable tool that will help us in our efforts to attract new businesses, facilitate investment and grow jobs.”
The site spans a region stretching from Crossfield to the north, Canmore in the west, Nanton to the south and Gleichen heading east.
