The Coldest Night of the Year is still down the road

It may be hard to believe, but the Coldest Night of the Year is still a few weeks away.

The Coldest Night of the Year is a family-friendly walk on Feb. 24, 2024 in support of local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.

The Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area is again asking area residents to join in the worthwhile effort by fundraising, donating, walking or volunteering to help out those less fortunate.

Helping Hands is still looking for more sponsors to join the list of local businesses, organizations and individuals already committed to the cause.

Because it’s cold out there.

For more information on how to take part go to helpinghandscochrane.ca.

New sponsors can contact Laura at [email protected]

Every year features a new collectible toque. This year's toque is the best one yet.

Due to the water break at Riverfront Park last summer, organizers are moving the walk this year, which will be announced soon.

Walk options are 5 km or 2 km with a coffee rest stop along the way. Return to the start/finish for the outdoor wrap party, with food from Guy's Cafe.

The Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area is a volunteer linking organization and registered charity.

They link people who help with people who need help.

Helping Hands volunteers assist low income seniors, chronically ill residents, single parents and newcomers with practical needs. Clients are those who do not have a support network or financial resources to help themselves.

Volunteers generously give of their time to help with rides to medical appointments, food drives, mentorship, snow removal, lawn care, handyman services, companionship, moving assistance, downsizing, errands, food rescue, Free Food Shed maintenance and much more.
