Cochrane council and administration gave a warm welcome to the first members of the Cochrane Business Incubator on July 6.

For the next one to two years, four inaugural start-up founders will access comprehensive resources, mentorship opportunities, and a supportive environment in the incubator.

The Cochrane Business Incubator is located in the Station at the Cochrane Crossing, and is dedicated to promoting business innovation, connections, and growth, with the mission to nurture entrepreneurial connections and support pre-seed stage start-ups and help them blossom into local companies that will contribute to Cochrane’s thriving business community.

Interim director of planning and development services for the Town of Cochrane, Mike Korman, said welcoming the start-ups into the Cochrane Business incubator marks an important milestone for Cochrane’s continued aspiration for innovation and economic growth.

"We are pleased to support these founders as they have the potential to make a significant impact in their respective industries and contribute to Cochrane's economy and employment opportunities," Korman said.

The four members represent different industries that have great potential for growth, and the Town of Cochrane congratulates all members for their acceptance.

The first company, CEBO Cleaning Co., has 10 years of experience in the service industry. The business connects vetted and qualified independent cleaners and cleaning companies to the customized needs of customers.

Cochrane Bio-Char, the second company accepted, was founded in 2020 and designs pyrolysis equipment to manufacture agriculture-grade biochar from waste wood.

Third on the list is Hire a Teacher, which aims to help employers find the best future employees, which are teachers.

And the final business, Plus 5XP, will help bridge the gap for young professionals who are curious on how they can get jobs that ask for experience right after graduation.

All members will gain access to the incubator’s workshops, mentorship, and 24/7 office and boardroom resources. They will also have the chance to learn from experienced professionals, network with other entrepreneurs, and navigate the difficult early-stage challenges of business development more effectively.

The Cochrane Business Incubator is also serves as the home of Cochrane Business Development, Cochrane Chamber of Commerce, Cochrane Tourism, Innovate Cochrane, and Community Futures West. The collaborative space ensures that the incubator program remains forefront of driving entrepreneurial excellence and driving economic growth.

For start-ups who are interested in joining the Cochrane Business Incubator, applications are still being accepted. With limited space available, interested parties are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. To apply or learn more about the program, Cochrane.ca/incubator.
