A Cochrane RCMP traffic stop near Morley on July 6 rendered the arrest of two locals on various drug-trafficking-related charges.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. that evening, Stoney Nakoda RCMP officers were proactively patrolling and observed a vehicle without a license plate. According to the RCMP's press release, the Mounties conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle, through which one passenger was identified to have outstanding warrants.

Upon search of this passenger, RCMP state illicit drugs were found on his person and further investigation revealed over $2,000 in Canadian currency, 25 grams of Fentanyl, scales, multiple cell phones, and other drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Another occupant was also arrested and both were held for a judicial interim release hearing.

Dennis Lyndon Wildman, 44, a resident of Stoney Nakoda First Nation, now faces numerous charges, including two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon, and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Jacie Kara Fox, a 38-year-old resident of Brocket, has also been charged, with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Wildman was remanded into custody and will appear in Cochrane’s Alberta Court of Justice on Aug. 1. Fox was released and will appear in Cochrane’s Alberta Court of Justice on the same date.

"As charges have been laid, this matter is now before the courts and further information will not be released at this time," RCMP stated.
