Cochrane Home Treasures donates $142,195 back to Cochrane in 2022

“It’s really great because we are super transparent about who we give our money back to, how much we give back, and you can see it directly go back to the community,” said Cayley Breeze, manager of Cochrane Home Treasures.

As a reflection over the last year and a way to kick off 2023, Cochrane Home Treasures thanks the community for their continued support and allowing them to donate $142,195 back into the community.

Manager of Cochrane Home Treasures Cayley Breeze said all the money raised has returned to local groups and organizations in town.

“This year we had quite a lot, probably 20 or 30 groups or associations that were recipients,” Breeze said.

Breeze said a few notable groups locals may know include Cochrane Light Up to help fund their light display expansion and fireworks show, and Wayfinders Wellness Society to support veterans and first responders with PTSD support.

“And many others including the Cochrane Legion, Glenbow Ranch, the high schools received bursaries, and many other great organizations,” Breeze said.

Since Cochrane Home Treasures is in a symbiotic relationship with the community, Breeze said it is always important to give back to the community whenever possible.

“We are definitely reliant on the donations of furniture and home goods from the community that come into us, so that we can resell them and have these profits to be able to give back to the community,” Breeze said.

“It’s really great because we are super transparent about who we give our money back to, how much we give back, and you can see it directly go back to the community.”

Since they are reliant on donations from locals in Cochrane and surrounding areas, Breeze asks those who are getting ready for spring cleaning to consider donating to Cochrane Home Treasures.

“When people are thinking of clearing their houses out, to bring it to us,” Breeze said. “So, we can sell it and do better and better.”

Breeze said it is an awesome feeling for their team anytime they give back to Cochrane.

“All of the staff and volunteers that work here, we always love seeing the money we donate into great things into the community,” Breeze said. “And it’s just great. It just makes out job feel great to see it go back into the community.”

As a whole, everyone part of Cochrane Home Treasures is proud with their achievements in 2022, but plan to aim higher.

“We always want to see that amount get bigger and bigger and see as much money go back into the community,” Breeze said. “We are going to keep trying for more.”

Despite achieving a monumental goal, Cochrane Home Treasures hopes to smash their record in 2023.

“We are going big!” Breeze said. “Hopefully we are going to be over $200,000 this year, so that’s our goal to see if we can get there.”

Breeze invites anyone who may be interested or has inquiries regarding donating goods or time to Cochrane Home Treasures, to email they directly at [email protected]. For any local charities or initiatives looking for funding, they are invited to apply on www.cochranehometreasures.ca.
