Cochrane Fire Services made a powerful showing at the 2025 Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge this past weekend, earning top honours in both fundraising and team performance.
Held at Calgary’s Brookfield Place, the event saw firefighters from across the province tackle the 57-storey climb in full gear — all in support of cancer research and mental health support services.
Cochrane’s team raised an impressive $23,970, securing first place in total donations. The department also placed first in overall team time, with firefighter Daniel Spalding clocking in at 11 minutes and 37 seconds — the third-fastest individual time of the competition.
The team dedicated their performance to the late Captain Huw Jeffries, honouring his memory and legacy of service.
