The Cochrane Art Club is gearing up to bring their Small Works Sale to the Cochrane Alliance Church on Nov. 2.

Affordable pieces of art created by local artists can be found in town at the Cochrane Art Club’s Small Works Sale on Nov. 2.

The sale will take place at the Cochrane Alliance Church from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entry to the event is free with a special door prize of original artwork.

Cochrane Art Club president Julia Trites explained that their sale in November is geared towards providing affordable art to the community, especially for newcomers in the community.

“We’re hoping that people will choose gifts for themselves and others, with the affordable price ranges of the art and their different sizes,” she said. “There’ll be watercolours, acryllics, inks, and other mediums. And in the foyer, we’re going to prints, giclées, and cards, which again are going to be very affordable and we’re going to have a large selection.”

With over forty active artists in their club, Trites said their membership’s skillset ranges from emerging to professional artists. Trites added that this year’s sale will feature an expanded area to host more works.

With the sale a few days away, Trites is hoping the snow will hold off for a few more days until after their sale. But regardless of sleet or sunshine, she outlines that their art show will still go on.

“From the bottom of my heart, I just want to thank the people of Cochrane for all their patronage because our club is 65-years-old,” she said. “It is something for a club to survive through all we’ve been through with COVID, and its ups and downs. For a club that old, we’re still going strong.”
