The Cochrane Classic Car Club is looking to capitalize on the last bit of summer for their Fall Colours Show and Shine, which will be held Sept. 13 in downtown Cochrane.

John Fitzsimmons of the club expects to see 250 to 300 cars roll into downtown for the event. He said attendees could expect to see everything from hot rods to “tuners” with high output engines.

He summed up the driving sentiment among club members in showing off their rides: “It’s like being an artist; when you paint something and no one gets to see it, it’s a shame.”

He said Mayor Ivan Brooker, along with town council, has been very supportive of the club’s event.

“Without the mayor and council, we’d be going nowhere.”

Around a dozen volunteers from the club and the Cochrane High School football Cobras will help run the event, with proceeds going towards the team.

“All the guys are committed to this 100 per cent,” Fitzsimmons said about the enthusiasm of the volunteers.

The fee to register your vehicle is $10 and can be paid at the event location by MacKay’s Ice Cream at 8 a.m. the day of. Downtown along First Street will be closed from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 for the classic car show.
