CCTV footage collected from the area confirmed the victim had been walking westbound on 10th Avenue S.W., towards Sixth Street S.W., when a dark-coloured SUV pulled up and an occupant of the vehicle fired multiple shots.
Homicide investigators are releasing CCTV images of a vehicle of interest in relation to the homicide of Thane Cameron Clayton, and are looking for information from the public to locate the vehicle and driver.
The vehicle is described as a 2016-2022, blue Honda Pilot and is believed to have been in the area of the Beltline shooting around 8:50 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023.
CCTV footage shows the vehicle traveled eastbound and westbound on 10 Avenue S.W., and remained in the area of 10 Avenue S.W. and Sixth Street S.W., prior to the murder. After the shooting, the vehicle left the area south on Sixth Street S.W., ran a red light at 11 Avenue S.W., and then turned west onto 13 Avenue S.W. It then continued west on 13 Avenue S.W. until turning south on 11 Street S.W.
Anyone in the area with CCTV or dashcam footage, or any information about the identity of the vehicle or driver is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
At approximately 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, we responded to reports of gunshots in the 600 block of 10th Avenue S.W. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased man with apparent gunshot wounds.

The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling southbound on Sixth Street S.W. and turning onto westbound 13th Avenue S.W.
Following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner today, Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, the victim has been identified as a 40-year-old man who is not believed to be from the Calgary area. He has ties to Vancouver, B.C., Edmonton, Alta. and Halifax, N.S. The name of the victim will be released upon completion of the next of kin notification.
At this time, we do not have information to suggest whether this was a targeted incident.
Investigators are asking for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the shooting to contact police.
“This volatile incident showed a blatant disregard for human life and jeopardized the safety of bystanders,” said Det. Lee Treit of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “Video footage and witnesses are vital for us to hold the offenders in this brazen attack accountable, and we are asking for anyone with information to come forward.”
