C-Train not running downtown Calgary on the red line this May long weekend

People using the red line from north Calgary will need to take a shuttle bus from Sunnyside station into the downtown this weekend.

The City of Calgary is doing work along the red line this long weekend and C-Trains coming from north Calgary will be affected. 

C-trains will stop running at the Sunnyside Station starting Saturday morning and won't resume again until 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Shuttle busses will move transit passengers from Sunnyside Station through the downtown to the 39th Avenue station. 

Track work is being done along 7th Avenue downtown over the May long weekend.

The projects on this weekend’s list include:

  • Track repairs and rail replacements
  • Crossing replacement at 8 St SW
  • Lighting maintenance
  • Regular preventative maintenance of the switch machine, help phones, and communications equipment
  • Concrete repairs in the Cemetery Hill tunnel
  • Track work and other projects near Victoria Park/Stampede Station and the Big 4
  • Fire suppression and surface drainage inspections and maintenance 
  • and other projects, as time allows.
