Sept. 21 is Agricultural Society Day in Alberta.
On this day, Alberta will officially recognize the incredible work of its 292 Agricultural Societies, which play an essential role in fostering community spirit across the province.
“These societies are the backbone of countless fairs, events, and community initiatives, and this special day is an opportunity for the public to celebrate their contributions,” says a release from the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies (AAAS).
Local ag societies in the region are the driving force behind most local fairs, farmers' markets, and rodeos, among others, all of which bring people together and highlight Alberta’s rich agricultural heritage. And most are run exclusively by volunteers who want to enhance the lives of their communities.
To highlight the work these societies do, readers are encouraged to share their own stories and experiences with Agricultural Societies using the hashtag #abagsocietiesday.
See the AAAS website for information on local celebrations for Ag Society Day on Sept. 21.
