I would like to comment on two observations in Bruce Bladon's reaction to my thoughts on filling up our gasoline tanks.
The first is that there are tens of thousands of scientists who disagree with global warming caused by CO2. Scientists are people who know a lot about their specialty but just as much or as little as everybody else. It is only those scientists that have studied the topic of climate and the impact of CO2 levels whose judgments are valuable.
I have met a respectable university geologist who was not worried because the earth has experienced vastly different periods, but the consequences of sudden changes in the global climate are disastrous for the current state of the world.
The idea of higher CO2 concentration being beneficial for plants and therefore welcome is rather nearsighted. Because plant life needs water, floods are not less ruinous.
Mass delusion of persons of influence? Think of the Australian fires and the thawing of the Arctic, the Antarctic, Greenland and glaciers, the Fort McMurray fire and other ones in our backyard.
