When blonde, celiac or flat-footed people have experienced the kind of oppression, marginalization and abuse that members of the LGBTQ2S+ community have, then I'm all for finding ways to reflect that struggle and draw awareness to the lack of equality they experience. The last time I checked, though, none of those groups have had their basic humanity questioned by politicians, religious leaders and those of a "right"eous mindset.

Painting a rainbow "diversity" crosswalk in Cochrane seems like the smallest possible gesture that can be made by our community to acknowledge the inequality and marginalization that has been experienced by various groups within our society.
