I would like to reply to L. Tex Leugner
I am a socialist, I belong to a union. I identify as a socialist because I believe in health care that is free to all paid for by my taxes. If a person falls on hard times for any reason they should be supported.
Education, roads, police, the armed forces these things, and more, should be paid for out of my taxes. Taxes should be collected on your ability to pay and no other way. Jail time should be served by those that do not pay their taxes and loop holes should be closed.
I’m a unionist because it has improved the lives of many. They have stopped child labour, brought in the shorter working week, vacation, stopped the exploitation or (tried to) of the working man, supported local community food drives for the elderly and helped LGBTQ2+ members.
Don’t blame the Liberal party for winning the election blame the Conservatives for losing the election. Yes I agree with you the electoral system is wrong, but the Conservatives have never changed it when they had the chance, nor will they. If they did changed the electoral system they would lose more seats as would the Liberals. Neither of these parties want to change the system that stands because both would lose.
As for having a go at teachers, because they belong to a union, I’m sure that a Conservative government has been elected under this system.
I get the impression that some Conservative voters are looking around for someone else to blame. Look to your party and its leaders. Make changes or you will carry on as you are. Remember you don’t win an election you just don’t lose.
I feel that none of the parties represented my views. I must have seen over 30 federal elections in this country, and in the UK. If you don’t like this one, you can always vote in another later.
