In response to Steve Durrell: when Teck pulled its application, thousands of people were immediately impacted.
The argument Mr. Durrell tries giddily to put forth - that the UCP’s failings caused this - makes no sense.
The company had accounted for, met and exceeded all considerations: climate, environment, emissions, First Nations consultation and support.
Public safety may or may not have been mentioned in the letter but it was most certainly a big part of the application. I am sure that the CEO has eyes, ears and foresight. Would his project be the next catalyst for #SHUTDOWNCANADA?
Your party garnered literally no social license (unless you refer to #SHUTDOWN CANADA protesters running amok) for resource projects. Your party received no investment dollars unless you call Morneau/Notley governments’ buying a pipeline an ‘investment’.
Maybe the references in the Teck letter were actually saying ‘we have jumped through every hoop, addressed every issue, consulted and negotiated fully with all affected parties, set exciting targets to become carbon neutral, yet we know that your government (letter was addressed to Wilkinson not Kenney) has no intention of approving the project let alone having our backs if protesters/blockaders/extremists attack us’.
Mr. Durrell, global capital markets are a problem because of ideologies held by the Trudeau Liberals, the NDP, the Greens and the foreign funders, (Bilderbergers), who don’t care about prosperity for Canadians. In my opinion, investors are being hoodwinked by climate alarmists including Mark Carney.
When you accuse the UCP government of not caring about climate, you are absolutely wrong. The oil and gas sector is always innovating, improving standards, researching and developing cleaner technologies, controlling emissions and consulting with First Nations.
All people can take credit (or blame) for being (or not) more environmentally conscientious. Automobiles have improved their emissions and fuel is cleaner. Government doesn’t have to tax to be jurisprudent.
