The imposition of Trudeau’s national carbon tax is based on a lie perpetrated by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the IPCC. Climate change is an insidious scheme established by the United Nations and world elites to destroy capitalism and ensure wealth re-distribution.
Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Christiana Figueres said: “This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution.” Changing it to what exactly? What does the IPCC have in mind?
It has become clear that beyond the facade of “global co-operation”, the UN is really pushing an agenda intended to destroy national sovereignty and crush our capitalist economic system. Figueres went on: “the task we have given ourselves is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history”. Who gave the UN that mandate? No one gave our Canadian government that mandate, but it appears to have arbitrarily taken it.
During a discussion in Switzerland between a reporter and a member of the UN’s IPCC, the reporter was told: “we must free ourselves from the illusion that international policy is environmental policy, we must clearly state that we use climate policy de facto (as a means), to re-distribute the world’s wealth”. This is clearly a United Nations effort of stealth to re-distribute wealth by world elites. In Canada, the Trudeau carbon tax is only one of many first steps.
Trudeau and his environmentalist thugs will implement a national carbon tax in January 2020. He continues to point to the success of the carbon tax in British Columbia, but a lie is still a lie and Trudeau is still lying.
Bill Tieleman, a former NDP strategist, said this about the B.C. carbon tax: “the problem is that the tax doesn’t work, whether its green house gas reduction or economic improvement, the BC carbon tax has tanked”. Tieleman went on to explain that the carbon tax did not improve the economy of B.C. and it’s growth slowed more than it’s neighbour provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan: “from 2010 – 2014, Alberta’s GDP grew 22 per cent, Saskatchewan grew 15 per cent, while B.C. lagged by 11 per cent”. Tieleman continued; nor is the carbon tax fair. It’s regressive and benefits business and the wealthy at the expense of lower and middle class wage earners. The low income credit introduced in 2008 offset the carbon tax for low income earners, but as the tax goes up the credit will not, meaning that low income earners may pay more than high income households”. Tieleman’s article Higher Emissions, Slow Growth, Regressive Taxation, Sorry what’s to Celebrate sums up the disastrous carbon tax.
Economist Mark Lee supports Tieleman’ s argument, when he reported that: “the B.C. carbon tax has not lowered green house gas emissions, since 2010 GHG’s have increased every year, as of 2013, they are up 4.3 per cent over 2010 levels”.
Consider also the comments by Aldyen Donnelly, President of WDA Consulting who shot down the Financial Post’s pro carbon tax think tank Canada 2020 report expounding the advantages of pollution pricing precedents. Donnelly concluded that: “not one of these precedents, cap and trade, consumption or production taxes, tariff measures or any combination of carbon taxation can be described as effective or efficient. Yet the Financial Post’s Canada 2020 paper goes to some lengths to selectively or creatively interpret the data that supports a carbon pricing policy bias”. Donnelly went on to say that in B.C.: “the demand for carbon taxed products actually grew”, putting the lie to the Trudeau argument that demand for carbon based products is dying.
So if the Trudeau carbon tax isn’t doing what it’s intended, why is it being implemented? Simply because a carbon tax accomplishes exactly what the IPCC and the elites of the world intended; the extraction of wealth from Canadian workers and their families. The goal is to put the world’s wealth under the control of politicians and bureaucrats, enriching the state at our expense. There is a much more sinister intention. As the state’s control grows, the freedom, liberty and choices of the people slowly disappear. Trudeau senior, the closet Communist, would be proud.
