The drive for a fourth straight league banner has reached its final stage.
The Carstar Okotoks Bisons completed a 3-1 series victory over the Medicine Hat Cubs with a 4-1 triumph on Thursday in the South Final to advance to the Heritage Hockey League championship series.
In Game 4, Seamus Garagan opened and closed the scoring with Ty Russell and Sam Callahan adding second period markers.
Callahan had a massive series for Okotoks with five goals and eight points and currently leads the HJHL playoffs with 14 points in eight games.
Okotoks goalie Dylan Walker made 23 saves for his third win in as many games for the herd.
Medicine Hat took the series opener with a comeback overtime win before Okotoks scored a 7-1 road result in Game 2 and earned a 4-3 result in Game 3 on home ice. Bisons forwards Jady Shigehiro and Owen McFarlane notched their first playoff goals in the Game 3 win.
The Bisons could find out their opponent in the HJHL championship series as early as tonight.
In the North Final, the Sylvan Lake Wranglers have a 2-0 series lead over the Red Deer Vipers with the chance at a sweep on March 14 in central Alberta.
The schedule for the best-of-five league final has not yet been released.
Okotoks is the three-time defending HJHL champion and reigning Hockey Alberta Jr. B provincial gold medallists.
