Lace up your skates and make the most of winter in Airdrie by visiting one of the city’s outdoor skating rinks, including the newest loop at the North East Regional Park. The City of Airdrie parks department maintains six boarded rinks, four snowbank rinks, and three natural ice surfaces, offering a variety of skating experiences for all skill levels. Whether you’re looking for a smooth, maintained surface or a more natural setting, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Indoor fun
More of an indoor cat? We get it. There’s an endless array of indoor activities to do with family, friends, or your special someone. A great option is chucking some axes at Rival Axe Throwing. We are Canadian, after all. Not your cup of tea? Try ¡Glitch! Gaming Lounge, where you can enjoy a chill lounge environment with food, drinks, pool tables, live music, arcade games, board games, and so much more. Trust us when we say that everyone, and we mean everyone, can have fun here.
Get Thrifty
Everybody loves thrifting. Not only is it a great way to upgrade your wardrobe without breaking the bank, but it’s also an activity in and of itself. Hunting for hidden gems is almost as exciting as the thrill of finding them. If you’re looking for a date idea, why not spend the day picking out items for one another? Or, if you’re going with a friend, choose a theme and get creative. Thrifting should be an Olympic sport. It takes determination, passion, and a keen eye for detail. If you’re not sure where to go, we suggest trying out Where on Earth, Snap Collectibles, or Treasure Cove.
Local Brews
Last but not least, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the amazing local breweries. Support local and drink great beer at 948 Brewing Company, Atlas Brewing, Balzac Craft Brewing Company, or Solutions Brewing. From seasonal brews to fan favourites, you’re going to want to sample some of each. If you’re looking for a fun activity, why not take yourself on a self-guided brewery tour?
