Tom Lipp will no longer be on the ballot as the Bow River riding's Christian Heritage Party (CHP) candidate in the upcoming federal election.
Lipp confirmed on Monday morning, April 7, that Elections Canada had declared his candidacy "ineligible."
He had been listed as the CHP's Bow River candidate since the announcement of the federal election and has run in the past two elections in 2021 and 2019.
In order to be a certified candidate with Elections Canada, the candidate must choose a party, appoint a campaign delegate (and auditor if contributions will be more than $10,000), collect the names, addresses, and signatures of 100 supporters, and file nomination papers before the Monday, April 7th deadline.
Currently, Bentley Barnes of the Liberal Party, David Bexte of the Conservative Party, and Louisa Gwin of the NDP have been certified by Elections Canada.
Aaron Patton of the newly formed United Party, has also been certified. The party was registered in 2024 and bills itself as a party that will serve the Canadian people first, "re-establishing truth, justice, strength and freedom."
In the Airdrie-Cochrane riding, first-time candidate Christopher Bell has been confirmed to be running with the Christian Heritage Party - one of nine CHP candidates across Alberta.
Elections Canada will publish their full list of accepted candidates on Wednesday, April 9.
The General Election will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025.
