Teen passes away after being struck by vehicle on Calgary highway

Prior to the collision, police were notified of two males who witnesses described as walking into traffic, allegedly trying to stop vehicles.

Calgary police are reporting that a 19-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on southbound Stoney Trail earlier this week has passed away.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, police were called for reports of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on southbound Stoney Trail north of McKnight Trail N.E.

Prior to the collision, police were notified of two males who witnesses described as walking into traffic, allegedly trying to stop vehicles.

At that time, a 2010 Cadillac CTS4, driven by a 25-year-old man, was travelling in the far-right lane of southbound Stoney Trail N.E.

According to police, it is believed a 19-year-old male pedestrian entered into the path of the Cadillac, and was struck by the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was uninjured, and is not facing any criminal charges.

The second pedestrian, a 13-year-old boy, was uninjured and is not facing any criminal charges.

Speed, alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in the collision for the driver or the two pedestrians.
