When the Salish Eagle sailed out of Tsawwassen heading for Galiano Island on Friday, it forgot something — most of its walk-on passengers.

“Some foot passengers were missed while we loaded traffic,” a B.C. Ferries official said Tuesday. “The vessel had been given clearance and was just in the departure process when we realized the error.”

The Salish Eagle turned around and returned to dock to pick up the waiting passengers.

About 25 of 34 foot passengers on the late-afternoon sailing were left behind.

The mistake put the ship about 25 minutes behind schedule.

”We certainly apologize to our customers, but are pleased the issue could be resolved in a timely manner,” B.C. Ferries said.
