A large inscription of the word "TRUMP" was spotted in a field in Mountain View County near Carstairs, approximately 50 kilometres north of Calgary, on Jan. 29.
The footage was taken at an altitude of 6,500 feet by flight instructor Jinwook Choi, who said he first saw it that morning and continued seeing it throughout the day, and then shared to social media by his wife, Seulgi Gwon.
It's presumably a reference to U.S. President Donald Trump, who has generated much controversy in Alberta and Canada due in part to his approach to foreign policy and trade.
Choi said it was the first time he had seen anything like this as a pilot in Alberta.
No information is currently available on who is behind the inscription.
The footage comes on the eve of Trump's damaging tariffs on Canada, which are expected to be imposed at the start of February.
