As tall as a TV remote: Monday’s snowfall totals vary across central Alberta

Environment and Climate Change Canada's observing network reported as much as 20 centimetres in one locale

SUNDRE – A spring snowstorm swept through Alberta Easter Monday leaving various accumulations of snow in the western parts of central Alberta.

Mountain View County and the urban centres near it, along with numerous Alberta locales, were under a snowfall warning from Sunday, April 20 until early on the morning of Tuesday, April 22.

Environment and Climate Change Canada warned of heavy flurries, with total snowfall amounts of 10 centimetres (cm) to 20 cm expected.

According to the federal agency's Alberta weather summary issued Tuesday morning, the April 21 snowfall total in Nordegg, west of Rocky Mountain House was 20 cm (about eight inches), or about as tall as a TV remote control.  

West of St. Albert, snowfall in Edson and Hendrickson Creek measured 18 cm (just over seven inches).

The federal agency also noted in the summary that according to a third-party source, snowfall in Sundre amounted to six centimetres (nearly 2.5 inches). 

Meanwhile in southern Alberta, snowfall totals in Pekisko, south of Diamond Valley, amounted to 10 cm (nearly four inches).
