Man charged in Alberta, Saskatchewan Tim Hortons break-ins, including Rocky View County

DIDSBURY - A 25-year-old Medicine Hat man is facing dozens of charges following break-ins at Tim Hortons restaurants in 12 Alberta locations including in Didsbury, Rocky View County and High River as well as seven more in Saskatchewan, police said Tuesday.

Between June and October, break-ins were reported in Brooks, High River, Hanna, Vermilion, Rocky Mountain House, Strathmore, Drayton Valley, Stettler and Wetaskiwin, as well as in Maple Creek, Kindersley, Swift Current, Saskatoon and Indian Head.

In all, about $45,000 in cash was taken during the break-ins, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Gina Slaney told the Albertan.

The RCMP’s Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, assisted by RCMP Regina General Investigation Section, conducted a five month investigation leading to the arrest of Joshua Elliot Moose, 25, in White City, Saskatchewan on Oct. 31. 

A search warrant was executed on the accused’s hotel room, vehicle and apartment in Medicine Hat, resulting in the seizure of cash, tools and firearms, police said in a press release issued Nov. 5.

Moose faces seven charges in Saskatchewan for break and enter to commit theft and possession of break-in tools. 

He also faces 31 charges in Alberta of break and enter to commit theft, possession of break in tools and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Moose have been remanded in custody pending a Nov. 6 appearance in Saskatchewan Court of Justice.
