Boil Water advisory in effect at Golden Rod Community Hall

Following an Alberta Health Services (AHS) inspection at the Golden Rod Community Hall in Rocky View County, a boil water advisory was ordered for the property.

According to the inspection notice, water supplying the premises may be unsafe for human consumption as indicated by a water sample collected on Nov. 5, 2024, which showed the presence of Total Coliforms per 100 mL. Two water samples collected on Nov. 7, 2024, both showed the presence of 4 Total Coliforms per 100 mL.

The order stated the presence of Total Coliform bacteria is in contravention of the Nuisance and General Sanitation Regulation Section 11, which states “where a person provided a source of water that the person intends to be used or realizes or ought to realize will be used by the public for human consumption, the person shall ensure that the water is potable”.

Based on these findings, AHS declared the drinking water unfit for human consumption and a Boil Water Advisory was ordered to all users.

The order included a list of remedial procedures, including 'do not drink' advisory signs next to all water fixtures, providing potable water from an approved source, or boiling water for one minute, for consumption, food processing, and preparation, as well as providing hand sanitizer.

The water system must be assessed to identify the causes of contamination, maintenance is required, and more water samples will be required.
