Pedestrian killed by vehicle in Okotoks

A pedestrian was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle on 15 Street near the Okotoks Badminton Center, the Okotoks RCMP announced this morning. 

The police investigation has revealed that a passenger vehicle was travelling northbound on 15 Street when it hit two pedestrians who were believed to be walking on the roadway. 

A 52-year-old female resident of Eden Valley was declared deceased at the scene. 

A 25-year-old female resident of Okotoks was transported to a Calgary hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.   

The RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation continues. 

RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and the injured female.  

RCMP closed 15 Street between 338 Avenue East and 322 Avenue for several hours, but said this morning the collision scene was cleared in the early morning hours and traffic can resume in the area.

Police say two pedestrians were involved in a motor vehicle accident in Okotoks on Tuesday night.

RCMP have closed 15 Street near the Edison Badminton Centre as they respond to the accident that occurred in the evening on Oct. 22.

There is no word on the age, gender, or condition of the pedestrians or about what led to the incident.

Police said 15 Street between 338 Avenue East and 322 Avenue will be closed for some time and that a collision investigator has been called to the scene.

People are asked to avoid the area.

RCMP said more information would be provided when it becomes available.
