CALGARY — Police in Calgary say the driver of a pickup has died after it appears he got out of his truck and it began to roll backwards.

Investigators say it happened late Friday afternoon at the entrance door to a parkade in Calgary's Patterson Heights neighbourhood.

They say that as the truck rolled backwards, the driver who was in his 70s got caught in the truck's open door.

The vehicle continued rolling and eventually collided with a tree, pinning the driver between the tree and the vehicle door.

The injuries to the driver were fatal.

Police say that speed, alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in the collision, and that they're seeking witnesses.
